Spanish Committee
Our Spanish Committee is responsible for working with the administration to operate the PS 9 Spanish Program, finding funding for the program, and translating PTA documents. Parent volunteers, the Spanish Cluster teacher and Rita Yoskowitz (PS 9 Parent Coordinator) run our unique Spanish program, which was brought to PS 9 by parent initiative, and is funded in large part by the PTA. The Spanish program provides an introduction to Spanish for all children at PS 9, and is still a pilot program in need of financial support. Please help us solidify Spanish language instruction at PS9 by volunteering.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee is responsible for making sure that pertinent information regarding the PTA and school events are distributed to all students. We have a few avenues of making that happen, including through backpacking, the NewsfromPS9PTA@yahoogroups.com email list, our website (www.ps9.org), the News@9 newsletter and posted notices. We also publish a PS 9 Family Directory, containing contact information for all families at PS 9 and organize the school tours for incoming Kindergarten students. If you have graphics, database, marketing or website skills, or interest in communications, we invite you to join our team!

Hospitality Committee
Hospitality is a wonderful (and easy!) way to participate at PS9. These folks ensure that we have babysitting, set out refreshments for the parents at our monthly PTA meetings and arrange for food at other events such as the kindergarten orientation.

Class Parents
Class parents play an important role as a liaison between the teacher and the parents. They also fulfill the function of organizing parent/teacher conferences, volunteers for class trips, organizing class functions, and oh so much more. It’s recommended that the class parent role be shared by up to four people. This is a wonderful way to be more involved in your child’s education, have contact with your teacher, and create relationship with other parents. Class parents are supported by the 3rd VPs of Parent Involvement. You can find your child's Class Parent here.
