What is the PS 9 Benefit Auction?
Every year, PS 9 parents, grandparents and friends spend a festive evening bidding on items donated by companies, neighborhood businesses, professional services and the family and friends of PS 9 students. This year’s auction will be held at Landmark on the Park and will feature great food and music, a live and silent auction, as well as other opportunities to purchase and win prizes.
Why does PS 9 need an auction?
The Auction raises thousands of dollars that directly support our school. The funds raised from this event are invaluable to PS 9. These funds pay for the assistant teachers in all classrooms, chess, Spanish, educational and exciting class trips, supplement PS9’s rich and diverse arts and music programs and provide a host of other projects that make your child’s educational experience that much richer. Without this money, NONE OF THESE THINGS WOULD BE POSSIBLE!
How can I get involved?
We are asking all parents to make and/or solicit donations and sell raffle tickets, buy or solicit ads for the catalog, and most importantly attend the auction. Donations and attendance are the keys to our success. We welcome all types of donations Sample donations from years past have included:
Hotel stays, Vacation Homes, Wine Tastings, Concert Tickets, Broadway Tickets with Backstage Tours, Tickets to Sporting Events (Yankees, Mets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Giants and more), Catered Dinner Parties, Signed Sports Memorabilia, Cruise on a Private Yacht, SNL Tickets, Pool Parties and much more!
How do I get donations?
Be creative and use your imagination! Ask businesses that you frequent (such as restaurants, gyms, salons, camps and children’s classes) to donate gift certificates or products or place an ad (all donations are tax deductible and donors will be prominently thanked in our catalog). Or, use your connections (and the connections of your friends and families). Do you know anyone with season tickets? Do you know anyone who works in television? Do you know anyone with a country house or a time share? Do you know any travel agents? Do you use a ticket broker for work?
Or donate a special talent like cooking, organizing, knitting, photography, carpentry, etc.
Donations and donation forms can be put in the Donations Box in the Main Office. Please be sure to fill out the donation form completely. Extra forms and solicitation letters are in the PTA room, on the PS 9 bulletin board or can be accessed on-line at www.ps9.org. Please contact Sarah Gardner at 212-724-0807 if you have any questions.
