News@9 started as Shining Times many years ago, and was backpacked home three or four times each year. Last year, we decided that the community would be better served by moving News@9 online, and devoting it to articles that are too long to include in our weekly e-mailed update, or which benefit from the inclusion of images. The new News@9 has a format that is less rigid than the print version required. Articles can be published at any time rather than having to wait for the next issue, meaning that they can be more responsive to the needs of the community as they arise. Equally importantly, articles can be any length, since they will not have to fit the space that we have in each issue. The removal of size limitations also means that we can include more images, whether artwork or photography. News@9 is open to our entire community, such that people with ideas for articles can, after clearing them with the News@9 editor, simply write them. So, write to me if you have an idea that you’d like to work on. If you have a good idea, but don’t wish to write an article, just pass it along, and we’ll try to find someone to write it. In the meantime, enjoy the articles that you see below!
